This is a commentary on a pith instruction, supposedly given to Lopön Lodrö Mizepa (Slob dpon blo gros mi zad pa) by Mañjuśrī. In this instruction, the wheel of a chariot is used as an analogy to demonstrate how a bodhisattva makes progress in the practice of bodhicitta. The commentary explains, using the various components of the wheel of a chariot and their functions as analogies, how bodhicitta and the qualities of the ten bhūmis and five paths develop gradually through the practice of the ten chapters of the Bodhicaryāvatāra.
