English	Our text here teaches the stages of the path of both the vast and profound in general, and specifically, elaborates upon the cultivation of the spirit of awakening and the ways to practice its activities. It teaches the Mahāyāna heritage(rigs) endowed with the freedoms and advantages, which is the distinctive bodily support, and the intention to relinquish evil and practice virtue, and so on, which is the mental support. Through this, its main explicit teaching is the mental training of great beings, and as an ancilliary, the mental trainings common to lesser and middling beings. Preceded by this, it first teaches a contemplation of the benefits of the spirit of awakening, generating enthusiasm. Then, it teaches the confession of evil, those conditions opposed to the development of a mind with beneficial qualities. Through to the third chapter, it also[p.40]The Profound Reality of Interdependence Duckworth, Douglas S., trans. Mahāyāna - Mahāyāna, or the Great Vehicle, refers to the system of Buddhist thought and practice which developed around the beginning of the Common Era, focusing on the pursuit of the state of full enlightenment of the Buddha through the realization of the wisdom of emptiness and the cultivation of compassion. Bodhisattva - A person who seeks enlightenment for the sake of others. In Mahāyāna Buddhism, a bodhisattva is a compassionate being who is training on the path to buddhahood and aspires to eliminate the suffering of all beings and take all sentient beings to the state of enlightenment.
