This is our reply: If there is a problem for karmic causality not being reasonable because we do not assert a permanent self, then there is a similar problem in your assertion of a permanent self. This is because it is not possible for something that is permanent to be involved in activities like performing actions and experiencing results, or coming and going at all—such as coming here from the past and going there in the future. The previous explanation refutes the permanent self that you impute, and later I will explain the arguments that undermine the possibility of something permanent performing an action. Therefore, your claim to a permanent self, and your words that it is that which performs actions, comes and goes, etc., contradict themselves.
