| English | After him, the glorious Candrakīrti composed his commentary on the Fundamental Verses of the Middle Way, Clear Words (Prasannapadā). [652] There he showed the reasons why the problems of Buddhapālita’s commentary voiced by Bhāviveka do not hold. He argued extensively to establish that Mādhyamikas do not accept autonomous arguments and refute their acceptance. Thus, he disclosed the great chariot tradition of commentary on the unique viewpoint of Nāgārjuna as Prāsaṅgika. Moreover, he wrote commentaries on Reason in Sixty Verses, Emptiness in Seventy Verses, and the Four Hundred Verses. Furthermore, he composed independent compositions such as the root text and autocommentary of the Introduction to the Middle Way. This master’s oeuvre is widely acclaimed. |
