English

The Bodhisattva Grounds says that when a bodhisattva vow has been taken and is not lost through these causes of losing it, after transference in death—as a human, god, or in the lower realms—the vow is not lost due to the various forces and powers of great compassion and prayers. Also, it says that even if one forgets it after transmigration at death, it will simply be adopted by way of being remembered and restored in reliance on a virtuous spiritual friend; it is not that what had not been there before will be taken anew. Through the power of the enduring continuity of the vow, one will naturally not take part in negative actions inappropriate for a bodhisattva. Also, without difficulty, one will easily come to meet with external conditions for remembering and restoring it, such as virtuous spiritual friends.
