English	It is said that both those who can and those who cannot practice the trainings of the aspirational spirit can adopt it through a ritual, [126] but it is never appropriate for someone who cannot practice the trainings at all to take up the engaged spirit through a ritual. Therefore a bodhisattva who wants to take the vow genuinely from a master, who will confer the vow to stabilize it in their mind, first should look to the foundations of training and the domains of faults, which are taught in the bodhisattva corpus. They should investigate in a heartfelt way and with discriminating insight whether or not they are able to follow through with these. Then they will be joyous when they take the vow. When the vow is not foisted upon someone by another against their wishes nor taken out of rivalry with another, then the spirit of awakening is known to be firm. Also, this is said to be one to whom the bodhisattva vow is genuinely conferred.
