| English | The False Aspectarians say that the things that appear to exist extramentally are illusion-like and cannot be shown to exist as outer objects separate from the mind. There are no extramental things. But in answer to the question whether it is the mind itself appearing in the form of such objects, the False Aspectarians deny that it is. For if [the illusory outer object] is not separate from the mind but is identical with it, this would undermine the mind’s oneness and partlessness. They say therefore that seemingly external objects are like the black lines one sees hanging in space:30That is, when one is suffering from an ocular disorder. they are just groundless appearances. The mind is by nature free from all such aspects. It is like a piece of pure crystal. |
