English	Why should I be pleased when people praise me? Others there will be who scorn and criticize— And why despondent when I’m blamed, Since there’ll be others who think well of me? What reason do we have to feel pleased when people praise us, given that there are always others who criticize us disagreeably and hold us in contempt? Their criticism dampens whatever pleasure we might feel. Conversely, if pleasant appreciation does come our way, why be despondent at the criticisms of others? The appreciation that others might show to us makes us feel less downcast.

Bodhisattva - A person who seeks enlightenment for the sake of others. In Mahāyāna Buddhism, a bodhisattva is a compassionate being who is training on the path to buddhahood and aspires to eliminate the suffering of all beings and take all sentient beings to the state of enlightenment.
