English

A buddha has developed this altruistic mind to its ultimate extent; he has conquered the arch-enemies of beings-ignorance, anger, desire, pride, and jealousy. When the Buddha was seated under the Bodhi tree, an army of twenty-one thousand demons showered him with a rain of weapons to distract and prevent him from attaining enlightenment. But the Buddha just meditated on love and compassion, and by the power of his meditation, the rain of weapons turned into a shower of fresh, fragrant flowers.
