Vaibhāṣikas and Prāsaṅgikas are similar in merely asserting the three times as entities, but their ways of assertion are completely different. Vaibhāṣikas posit each entity, such as a sprout, with each of the three times. Thereby, they claim that the sprout exists even in the past and future times; they also claim that the three times substantially exist. The Treasury of Metaphysics describes four distinctive features of the way the three times are understood in that system. Prāsaṅgikas do not claim that for each entity like a sprout there exists each of the three times. Nor is any substantial existence claimed whatsoever. Due to these features, this is said to be Prāsaṅgika’s unique way of positing the three times.
