This is because when actions orient toward cessation, they have a basis upon which there is posited the potency of the action to elicit maturation. One might wonder how this is. Some Sautrāntikas and Kaśmīri Vaibhāṣikas posit the mental continuum (sems kyi rgyun). Some proponents of Mind-Only posit the basic consciousness. Svātantrikas and proponents of Mind-Only that do not accept the basic consciousness posit the mental consciousness. These three are ways of positing the person that is the support of karmic causality. |
