| English | Bondage and liberation occur like this: When the wish to participate in the domain of spirit arises, the primal basis provides transformations. Furthermore, from the basic materiality comes the intellect, and from the intellect the ego. From among three types of ego, the five basics arise from the energetic (rajas) ego. From those, the five elements arise. From the light (sattva) ego, the eleven faculties arise. The inert (tamas) ego is said to initiate the other two egos. This way of arising is described in Īśvarakṛṣṇa’s text. |
