Tsongkhapa’s notes say that the passages in the Anthology of Training also make known that the former selflessness of persons is also the subtle selflessness of persons.312See Tsongkhapa, Bright Mind, 886–887; Tsongkhapa, Notes on the “Anthology of Training,” 571. This is merely stated in brief. For details, “Seek out and study the object of forbearance” mainly is to seek out a thorough study of the meaning of reality. Then it shows how afflictions are eliminated based on meditating on it: the forbearance that eliminates the discordant factors of a thorough study; the diligence that accomplishes its conducive conditions; and both the meditative concentration and the wisdom that have the nature of the antidote to the afflictions. Each of these four is separated out and many classifications of their meaning are established for each one in passages from sūtras. They are also correlated in different ways with four chapters from the Way of the Bodhisattva, including the Patience Chapter. Here, it is good to explain the correlations between the Anthology of Training and the Way of the Bodhisattva in just the context of the Wisdom Chapter.
