English

Manifest innate afflictive obscurations are innate apprehensions of true existence, the afflictions (that arise from these), and that which is concordant with them. The predispositions that are placed by the power of these for [743] producing later afflictions are the innate afflictive obscuration’s potential aspect. A mental consciousness that is concordant with an affliction like attachment is afflictive and an afflictive obscuration, but is not an actual affliction. Imputed afflictive obscurations (nyon sgrib kun btags) and afflictive obscurations that are to be removed on the path of seeing (nyon sgrib mthong spang) have the same meaning. Innate afflictive obscurations (nyon sgrib lhan skyes) and afflictive obscurations that are to be removed on the path of meditation (nyon sgrib sgom spang) have the same meaning.
