In this context, bodhisattvas can outshine those with the heritage of Disciples or Self-Realized Ones through the power of their superior intention. Nevertheless, they are not able to outshine them by their mental powers until they reach the seventh ground. Bodhisattvas residing on the sixth ground and below do not abide in the greatness of knowledge of their domain by means of directly engaging and arising in each moment within the authentic limit of cessation. From the seventh ground they achieve the distinctive qualities of being able to do this, so it is said in this sūtra that they can then outshine Arhats who are Disciples and Self-Realized Ones by means of their mental powers.
