| English | Nevertheless, there is said to be a tenfold division based on the distinctions in postmeditation in terms of supporting qualities. There are four distinctions: (1) the distinction of expanding the number of qualities, such as the attainment of twelve hundred qualities on the first ground, etc.; (2) the distinction of perfect power, in terms of the power of purification increasing from the earlier to the later grounds, and the quality of expanding the power by traversing further and further on the path; (3) the distinction of the exceptional transcendent perfections, such as the attainment of the transcendent perfection of generosity on the first ground. Transcendent perfection means “gone to the other side”; the words suggest that it only applies to the stage of a buddha, not the path of training. Yet “gone to the other side by this” applies to the action; it genuinely refers to the ten transcendent perfections during the path of training as well. (4) The distinction of the way of taking mature birth, as for instance, most of the ones who take birth as kings in the world are first-ground bodhisattvas.
