The definition of a source of knowledge is a cognition that is non-deceptive regarding the object of its mode of apprehension. Nondeceptive in this context is posited based on the way the warranted object exists in accord with the way it is discerned by a source of knowledge; this is different from the way all conventional phenomena are said to be deceptive. The etymology here is different from others, too: it is a source of knowledge because it is a reliable warrant (rab tu ’jal). |
