English	[711] Those who assert self-awareness have many arguments for establishing self-awareness. Mainly, the reason of memory is used to establish selfawareness. The Commentary on Epistemology says: “Self-awareness is established from memory.”190Dharmakīrti, Commentary on Epistemology, III.485 (D. 4210), 137a. The way this is established is as follows. It is not established by saying, “for a visual cognition apprehending blue there is selfawareness” because from the perspective of the opponent, there is no example that has both the property of the evidence and what is to be established.

Bodhisattva - A person who seeks enlightenment for the sake of others.
