English	The criteria for what is provisional in meaning are as follows: In general, a provisional meaning sūtra guides disciples. Yet it is not simply by guiding that it is provisional in meaning; here, the meaning of the sūtra must guide elsewhere. Also, within the two ways of guiding, there is one in which the explicit teaching is [688] not suitable to be apprehended literally; its explicit teaching needs to lead elsewhere, as in, “Your mother and father are to be killed.”113Tantra Explaining the Four Seats (Caturpīṭha-vikhyāta-tantrarāja, H. 406, vol. 82), 219b. This should be explained as referring to karmic existence and craving. Bodhisattva - A person who seeks enlightenment for the sake of others. In Mahāyāna Buddhism, a bodhisattva is a compassionate being who is training on the path to buddhahood and aspires to eliminate the suffering of all beings and take all sentient beings to the state of enlightenment.
