How to formulate the argument of interdependence is like this: consider a sprout, it does not intrinsically exist because it is a dependent arising, like a reflection. To distinctively identify the parts (such as the logical subject) in this formulation of the argument: its logical subject (chos can) is a sprout. Another word for the logical subject is “basis of debate” (rtsod gzhi). Also, it the logical subject because it has two properties: the property to be established (bsgrub bya’i chos), which is the lack of intrinsic existence, and the property of the subject (phyogs kyi chos), which is dependent arising. What is established (bsgrub bya) by this is that a sprout lacks intrinsic existence.
