This is because arising is for the purpose of attaining its own essence or nature, so there is the absurd consequence that it would be pointless for it to arise again, like before. The remaining four lines show that the repeated arising of what has already arisen does not make sense. They express that arising again contradicts reason: that if something like a seed that has already arisen had to repeat and arise again, then there would be no opportunity for results of similar types to arise, such as sprouts and stalks. It would absurdly follow that the cause, the seed of similar type, would arise without interruption until the end of existence. |
