English

As was explained before, the Sāṃkhyas assert arising from self. The way they do so is that they say, “All entities that have arisen, such as sprouts, have existed from the time of their causes. This is because they exist in the nature of their causes at the time of their causes. For example, at the time of clay, the cause for an earthen pot, the pot resides in the nature of the clay, and a sprout resides in the nature of the seed at the time of the seed, its cause. If something were to newly arise that did not exist at the time of its cause, then it would absurdly follow that even horns of a rabbit could arise.”
