It shows that in order to eliminate the cognitive obscurations (shes sgrib) that obstruct the attainment of omniscience, the wisdom that realizes emptiness needs to be connected to a great cause, which is the aspect of method. It does not say that a mere realization of emptiness needs to be definitely preceded by a great cause, the aspect of method. Therefore, the distinction as to whether or not wisdom that realizes emptiness becomes an antidote for cognitive obscurations, and the differences between the Mahāyāna and Hīnayāna as well, are distinguished in this Prāsaṅgika system based on method, not based on view. This is because it is claimed that there are no distinctions between higher or lower in terms of the view that is the object of meditation for persons in any of the three vehicles. |
