| English | One might think, “It makes sense to protect my body and so on a little bit for my own benefit.” This does not make sense because nirvāṇa can be attained by [101] giving away everything for the welfare of sentient beings, by cutting through the clinging fixations of attachment to all that is my body, possessions, and roots of virtue; and my mind also wants to attain the goal of the happiness of nonabiding nirvāṇa by pursuing this. The great commentary says that the passing beyond all suffering (nirvāṇa) on the contaminated grounds, with respect to things like the body, is liberation, and that is what my mind pursues.330See Prajñākaramati, Commentary on the Way of the Bodhisattva, 71b. |
