| English | One might think, “Even so, things like friends and family help at the time of death, so I will remain comfortable now.” My life, while I am alive and well, is like a bubble. I will need to depart to a place without familiarity or certainty, going alone without anyone to accompany me, like parents, family, friends, wealth, or possessions. When I must go uncontrollably into the future following karma, what is the point of all these friends and enemies? No one will be able to assist or protect me, whether they are my friends or enemies. No possessions will help me in the slightest either, so it is pointless to be attached and fixated on them; it makes no sense. So it makes sense to strive now to accomplish the path as much as I can and not to remain idle and at ease. Thus the Advice to a King Sūtra says: |
