You might think, “Even with diligence, the afflictions cannot be relinquished just by the gaze of the eye of wisdom.” When investigated and analyzed with clear reasoning, the afflictions do not intrinsically reside within external objects like material forms. Also, they do not intrinsically reside within the assemblage of internal faculties like the eye faculty. They do not intrinsically reside in between the objects and faculties either. If they also do not intrinsically reside elsewhere than these three places, where do these afflictions intrinsically exist to cause harm to all beings? They do not remain anywhere; there are no intrinsically existent harm-doers nor harms done. Thus they can be immediately relinquished when acknowledged and understood[p.324]The Great Hum
