| English | Alternatively, the fourth and fifth chapters teach discipline; offering to the Three Jewels and “I give my body, possessions . . .” (3.11) shows generosity. This is not in a separate chapter, but it is extensive. Then the concluding activities of the composed treatise, the dedication of the roots of virtue and the homage of gratitude, are presented in the tenth chapter. This explanation is also fine. Thus this text trains the mind in the path of great beings, preceded by training the mind in the ancillary path that is shared with the lesser and middling beings. It teaches the complete stages of the path to become a buddha through training in the practices of a bodhisattva by cultivating the spirit of awakening. The result, the state of a buddha, is also taught in a concise way in the ninth chapter. |
