Alternatively, some in the early generation of Tibetan scholars say that the first two stanzas teach the need to extract the essence of life without wasting the freedom and endowments. Then the first chapter teaches the benefits of cultivating the spirit of awakening. The second and third chapters teach how to cultivate the spirit of awakening, and then the fourth and fifth chapters teach how to guard the training. The first two of the six perfections, which constitute the trainings, are realized based on the first five chapters. The last four perfections are taught by the next four chapters, beginning with the Patience chapter [chapters 6–9]. |
