English	The bodhisattva vow is not like the pratimokṣa vow, which is lost if a defeat occurs such that it can never be taken again or taken purely. If a bodhisattva vow is lost through the occurrence of a defeat, there is [144] an opportunity to take it again in this life. Also, in some schools, if a defeat is not concealed, it is not a defeat for the pratimokṣa vow. Thus they assert defeats to be exclusively those that are concealed. Bodhisattvasaṃvara - The ethical code or 'vow' taken by a practitioner on the Great Vehicle path. It is a formal commitment to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all living beings, involving the avoidance of selfish actions and the active practice of helping others. Unlike other Buddhist vows, this commitment is maintained across multiple lifetimes until all beings are liberated. Skt बोधिसत्त्वसंवर  Tib བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་དཔའི་སྡོམ་པ་  Ch 菩薩戒

Bodhisattva - A person who seeks enlightenment for the sake of others. In Mahāyāna Buddhism, a bodhisattva is a compassionate being who is training on the path to buddhahood and aspires to eliminate the suffering of all beings and take all sentient beings to the state of enlightenment.
