| English | You might think, “If one has not realized it oneself, it does not make sense to compose a text about it. If one has realized it, then it is fine to become familiarized and habituated to it. Even if it is for one’s own benefit, what is the point of a composition? Composing a text in this way causes distraction.” The task of composing this treatise was taken on in order to cultivate and habituate to—or implant in the mindstream—the great virtues of method and wisdom united, which is the practice of the Mahāyāna path (that is, the spirit of awakening), in a way that the continuity of what has begun will develop and not dissipate. Moreover, when this text was composed, it was not done unreflectively, without investigation and analysis. On the contrary, the composition was taken up after a long analysis of, reflection on, and habituation to the vast and profound essential meanings of the Mahāyāna corpus. Due to this, the force or continuity of faith—aspiring, inspired, and confident faith—has begun for the time being to swell in my mindstream through setting forth the composition of this text. “For the time being” is a phrase that shows progression. |
