| English | Therefore the vowed disciplines of pratimokṣa are one part of the trainings of monastics with bodhisattva vows; they do not exist separately from the bodhisattva trainings. Also, among the three trainings, the discipline of restraint is the actual vowed disciplines of pratimokṣa; or it is that which is engaged and rejected in accord with it. If a bodhisattva guards it from the beginning, then they will guard the others as well, but if they do not guard it, then they will not guard the others either. Consequently, if a bodhisattva’s discipline of restraint deteriorates, [124] then all the vows deteriorate. This is stated in the Compendium of Determinations. |
