Furthermore, regarding the aggregates and all the other phenomena, which exist only on the relative level, if the Shrāvakas simply thought that they were truly existent—failing to understand that not even one of them is established truly—they would have no means of overcoming attachment and the other defilements; and it would be impossible for them ever to realize even the personal no-self. It is therefore proved by scripture and reasoning that, as a general principle, there is not a single path to liberation that does not arise from an understanding of emptiness. |
