English

But even if all the consciousnesses that are different according to specific circumstances are untrue and deceptive, why, it might be wondered, could there not be a single nature (of consciousness) that is undifferentiatedly present, so to speak, in all specific consciousnesses? This is the false conception of thinking that universals exist, the illusion that many characteristics make up a single entity. But after all specific consciousnesses have been discarded, what is this basis, this single universal that is common to them all? It has no existence at all.
