As far as concerns the removal of what is to be eliminated, the imputed aspect of both kinds of obscuration is eliminated on the Mahāyāna path of seeing. Then, by gradual degrees, both kinds of obscuration are equally eliminated.62Obscurations through defilement and cognitive obscurations have two aspects, imputed (kun btags) and innate (lhan skyes). As stated here, the imputed aspect of both kinds of obscuration is removed all at once on the path of seeing. The innate aspect of both obscurations are then removed gradually on the path of meditation. See Jigme Lingpa and Kangyur Rinpoche, Treasury of Precious Qualities, book 1, p. 451n69 and p. 452n70. On the eighth ground, the stirring of ego-clinging is halted, and the effect of this is that, on the pure grounds,63That is, the eighth, ninth, and tenth grounds. there is no further defilement. From that point onward, only cognitive obscurations remain to be eliminated. In the last moment of the tenth ground, the vajra-like concentration vanquishes even the subtlest deluded habitual tendency of the dualistic perception of mere appearance. Instantly, the dharmadhātu or suchness is reached, and this is the state of the Bhagavan Buddha, who has attained the indestructible wisdom body. The views of all the great charioteers of the Noble Land agree on this point, and it is not something to be muddled by the opinions of Tibetans. If one grasps this crucial point, all the cruxes of many textual traditions are automatically resolved. For they merge into a single stream of realization in the expanse of primordial wisdom.
