Because of that, those who have attained the liberation of the Lesser Vehicle, although they are free from faults of samsara, merely abide in a state of peace that is temporarily named nirvana. In order to access the ultimate nirvana, they must again engage in the great Mahayana vehicle, accumulate a heap of merit by benefiting sentient beings, and accumulate a heap of primordial wisdom by meditating on emptiness. Through these great accumulations, they will become able to attain full enlightenment Buddhahood. Therefore, the Commentary on Enlightenment Thought states:
