English

The Vaivashika believe that the self is indescribable, neither permanent nor impermanent, yet truly existent. This analysis is inconsistent and illogical because if the self were the consciousness, it would imply that it is impermanent57I.e., characterized by change. for immediately after the consciousness perceives a vase, it can perceive another material such as fabric. If the self were matter, it would imply that it would be unable to experience any pain or pleasure. Therefore, their position is illogical.
