| English | At the same time, the scholars at Nalanda were setting down in writing the teaching that Shantideva had given. The version produced by Kashmiri scholars had nine chapters and over seven hundred verses. The version produced by a scholar from central India had ten chapters and one thousand verses. They debated which version was authentic. Also, the teaching referred to two texts which the scholars were unable to locate: The Compendium of All Precepts, and The Compendium of All Sutras. |
