English

Just as the body can be classified into many different parts such as hands, legs, head, etc., yet all of the limbs are parts of the body and all need to be guarded and protected as a single unit, in the same way, the infinite sentient beings in the six realms all have various forms of suffering, yet just like oneself, all of these sentient beings are equal in that they do not wish to experience suffering, and they wish to experience happiness. Thus they are all the same. For that reason, it is suitable to meditate on equality of self and other and to protect them.
