| English | Meaningful nature means to possess the six branches which are: possess morality as described above; bind oneself by the pratimoksha vows; perfect ritual; environment; regard even the smallest faults with fear; and train completely in the precepts that one has undertaken. The meaningful cause is a mind that seizes the desire to attain the peace of liberation in nirvana. The meaningful result is temporarily taking higher rebirth without regret, etc., and ultimately becoming able to engage the mind in single-pointed absorption. Meaningful action is the base of all good qualities, pacification of the mental weariness of the defilements, and freedom from the fear of harming others. Meaningful possession means that throughout the three times, the body, voice, and mind engage only in perfect actions, so one possesses a heap of merit. |
