English

Only the Omniscient can know the causes and effects of actions in all their subtle details; they are beyond the grasp of anyone else. Even the attempt to understand it is said to accomplish nothing but the mind’s exhaustion. What therefore is the point in trying? For as the teachings say, the karma of beings, the activity of the Buddhas, the power of mantra, amrita, and concentration are all inconceivable. As it is said in the Panjika and the Vritti,126I.e., the Bodhisattvacharyavatara-panjika and Bodhisattvacharyavatara-vritti-panjika, both by Vairochanarakshita. See Kretschmar, chap. 4, p. 41. "We are ignorant with regard to these matters.”
