| English | Through meditation on compassion, the authentic, profound view will manifest in the mind, just as it did in the case of the teacher Dharmarakshita. In addition, all evil actions, which hinder the arising in the mind of the perfect view and other qualities, will be purified, and one will behold one’s yidam deity, just as Asanga did. It is said that in the past, when King Mahaprabha used to meditate on compassion, no one in our world experienced anger. Once when the deeds of the Kadampa masters were being recounted to Dromtönpa—of how Potowa would often teach the Dharma to many thousands of people; of how Gonpapa would only meditate in the uninhabited wilderness; of how Puchungwa would make many representations of the Buddha’s body, speech, and mind; and finally of how Khampalungpa used to go only to valleys where the rivers had run dry and weep—Dromtönpa joined his hands at the mention of Khampalungpa and praised him exceedingly. For, he said, there is nothing greater than compassion. |
