In sum, ordinary (childish) beings think only of themselves. Without resting day or night, they work exclusively in their own interest. The only result they reap from this is suffering both now and in the hereafter. The compassionate Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, on the other hand, are free from selfish concerns and work for the good of others alone. In this and future lives therefore they know only happiness, for they perfectly accomplish their own and others’ benefit. Just look at the difference between the Buddhas and beings! And ridding ourselves of selfishness, let us work exclusively for the benefit of others.
