FULL TEXT

Description

The Praṇidhānaratnarājanāma ("An Aspirational Prayer called 'the King of Jewels'") is a short aspirational prayer attributed to Nāgārjuna, structured as a series of bodhisattva aspirations modeled on the qualities and conduct of celebrated bodhisattvas including Mañjuśrī, Avalokiteśvara, Samantabhadra, Maitreya, Vajrapāṇi, Akṣayamati, Ākāśagarbha, Kṣitigarbha, and others. The prayer encompasses the seven-branch practice of homage, offering, confession, rejoicing in merit, requesting the buddhas to remain, and dedication, and concludes with the aspiration to benefit all beings throughout the ten directions. The text was translated into Tibetan at Samye Lhündrup Tse by the Indian paṇḍita Vanaratna and the monk Sönam Gyatso.
