This page will include a short introduction to practice of cultivating diligence as expounded by Śāntideva in Chapter 7 of the BCA. The purpose of this page is to provide a general overview of what this practice is about in terms of meaning (i.e., what is it?) and purpose (i.e., what's its point?). In this context, it will be important to contextualize this practice with regard to the broader notion of bodhisattva practice and path.

|jumbo-text=The seventh chapter of the ''Bodhicaryāvatāra'' is devoted to the perfection of diligence (''vīryapāramitā''). It is also the first of the three chapters that fall under the heading of perfecting bodhicitta, under which Śāntideva details the practice of the latter three perfections intended to further develop and intensify bodhicitta.

Providing a detailed overview of diligence as taught by Śāntideva would be ideal. To this end, quotes from the BCA should be provided.
|main-text=Likened to the wind that without which nothing moves, Śāntideva defines diligence as "taking joy in virtuous ways". According to his presentation in the ''Bodhicaryāvatāra'', it is an enthusiastic attitude devoid of the three types of laziness.

The titles listed in the bibliography below are useful sources to develop this page. Even if their main focus is on different subject, they have been selected because they include valuable information on the topic of this page.
