Ricard, Matthieu, and John Canti (Padmakara Translation Group), trans. and ed. The Heart of Compassion: Instructions on Ngulchu Thogme's Thirty-Sevenfold Practice of a Bodhisattva. By Dilgo Khyentse. New Delhi: Shechen Publications, 2006.
not only have you been born in a place where the Dharma exists, but also that you take an interest in Dharma-and even more so that you actually put it into practice. That is extremely rare. Look at the small number of individuals interested in practicing the Dharma. Look at how many countries there are in the world, and at those where the Dharma is a living tradition. Even in one such country, how many beings are inspired to practice, and among them how many will actually bring their practice to fruition? Most beings fritter their lives away in meaningless, selfish, trivial activities.
