The way these problems are resolved is this: The earlier and later statements from this scripture, along with the claim that the three vehicles have three different views that are meditated on, are not held to be literal meanings in this context here. Also, the passage that says “since the basic field of reality is indivisible . . . ,”270Maitreya, Ornament of Manifest Realization, 3b. in the context of dispelling objections states that the sublime Disciples and Self-Realized Ones realize the selflessness of phenomena; this is taken literally by both Vimuktisena and Haribhadra. Manifest Realization lies in Prāsaṅgika, this does not conflict with the fact that Vimuktisena and Haribhadra explained it to be Svātantrika; this should be known in detail from Tsongkhapa’s explanation of the Introduction to the Middle Way. Thus, I have briefly elaborated here because the scriptures and arguments that establish that Disciples and Self-Realized Ones realize the selflessness of phenomena from Candrakīrti’s texts are the same essential point as the viewpoint of the Way of the Bodhisattva. In this way, all the unique features of the Prāsaṅgika philosophical system, such as the way that the Disciples and Self-Realized Ones realize the selflessness of phenomena from Khedrupjé’s Exposition, and the framework of the shared and unique features of the afflictions, one should know as the single voice and single viewpoint of the Victor’s child, Śāntideva, and the glorious Candrakīrti.
