English	It is not reasonable to establish self-awareness through citing memory as evidence. If the evidence of memory that exists on its own is cited, this is not correct evidence for establishing the existence of self-awareness. This is because, just as self-awareness is not established for us, neither is this kind of memory. This kind of proof commits the fallacy of begging the question: what is to be proved is the same as the means of proof. It is like citing as evidence to prove the impermanence of sound that it is apprehended by a visual cognition. [713] The Introduction to the Middle Way says:
