| English | The coarse truth of suffering is the contaminated aggregates produced by the apprehension of self that apprehends the person to exist as a self-subsisting substance. The karma and afflictions that are brought about by this apprehension of self is the coarse truth of origin. The coarse cessation is the relinquishment of manifest afflictions explained in the two Abhidharma texts, those that are temporarily relinquished based on cultivation after directly realizing the selflessness that is the emptiness of the existence of a self-subsisting substance. The path to the direct realization of this kind of selflessness is the coarse truth of the path. The qualities of impermanence, suffering, and so on that characterize this kind of four truths are the sixteen coarse aspects. Furthermore, one should know the subtle truth of suffering as the contaminated aggregates produced by the apprehension of a self of persons that is the apprehension of a person existing on its own. Their qualities, along with the division within sixteen subtle aspects such as impermanence, should be understood to apply as before. |
