English

A cognition that apprehends these as existent, without relying upon analysis by reason, is said to be the "innate apprehension of true existence." The negation of its conceived object should be held to be the ultimate truth. In this Svātantrika system here, there is no such thing as this kind of truly existent phenomenon. Nevertheless, they do [678] not accept that what objectively exists, naturally exists, exists on its own, and substantially exists are objects of negation for reason investigating the ultimate. This is because they assert that phenomena must exist in these three ways (e.g., objectively) and that to be an entity is necessarily to substantially exist. Thus, although they claim that phenomena are mentally imputed and conceptually designated, they hold that the essence of those mentally imputed and conceptually designated phenomena objectively exists first.
