Those who accept arising from other include most of the non-Buddhist schools, such as the Vaiśeṣikas, and our Buddhist schools from the Svātantrika on down. They say that there is arising from other because it is established by mundane perception. Also, realists assert that there is arising from other ultimately, while Svātantrikas claim that conventionally there is arising from an other that exists on its own. Thus, realists say, “Self-arising is pointless, so it does not make sense. Without this, arising from both also is not reasonable, and causeless arising is totally absurd. It makes sense to refute these, but it does not make sense to refute arising from other. This is because scriptures say that entities that arise come about from four conditions, which exist on their own as other. Thus, to refute arising from other contradicts scripture and reasoning.”
